CESG-Shanghai facilitates and supports
the development and implementation of sustainable,
low carbon transport policies, programs and projects
in developing countries
About CESG
The development of transport infrastructure and services in developing countries improves access to markets and services like health and education. The rapid growth in the number of private motor vehicles over the last years in many of the developing countries is putting great strain on both the local and the global environment. Air pollution continues to be threat to health and economic development not withstanding a range of measures taken to to clean up vehicles and fuels. Land transport in developing countries is the fastest growing sector in terms of Greenhouse Gas emissions.
Awareness is growing on the need for a new approach to mobility in developing countries. Fortunately developing countries and cities have started to take action. This includes better land-use planning, public transport, walking and cycling as well as alternative and cleaner vehicles.
CESG-Shanghai works with different types of stakeholders such as development organizations, national and local governments, private sector and NGOs to accelerate and mainstream sustainable, low carbon transport. It balances the improvement of the local and global environment.
